About

My name is Maria Dumbrava and I am currently in my third semester at Dawson College in Studio Arts. I have not always been passionate about arts, but when I started painting in high school, I realized how important art would become in my life. I plan on pursuing art in University and finding work in this field.

I mostly work with paints and love to experiment and try new medium every now and then.

I usually get my inspiration from other artists online or directly from nature. Once I have an image or more in mind, I visualize my ideas and sketch them on a piece of paper. When I work with paintings, I start directly on canvas and build up the image as I go. For most of my work I use reference pictures I take of myself or from my travel albums. I really enjoy working and experimenting with colors to try and convey emotions.

One of my biggest inspirations is nature because I often find myself both comforted and distressed by it. This sparks my need to create and encapsulate whatever emotions I feel, so that I can later look at a piece and remember that feeling.
